ANNOUNCEMENT FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDY

The Graduate School of Telecommunications and Information Technology

The Graduate School of Telecommunications and Information Technology (GSTIT) is pleased to invite applications for admission to Postgraduate programs in Telecommunications Engineering and Information Technology for the 2006/2007 Academic Year.

Applicants who can fulfill the following entry requirement can apply.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements:
General Requirements:
1. The applicant must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 upon graduation with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited higher learning institution.
2. The applicant must pass an entrance examination (entrance examination date is Aug. 22, 2006).
3. Two letters of recommendations from previous instructors. For those applicants who have work experience, one of the recommendation letters should be from his/her supervisor.

Program Specific Requirements:
Information Technology
The applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering or Information Technology/Systems or other computing sciences field from an accredited higher learning institution.
Telecom Engineering
A candidate must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, or Electronic, or Computer Engineering from an accredited higher learning institution.

Application Date
Application form together with prospectus can be obtained in person between June 19, to July 21, 2006 from the Office of the Registrar, College of Telecommunication and Information Technology. The application form and prospectus can also be downloaded here:

  • Applications should be filled and be submitted with all relevant documents along with a 50.00 Birr application fee to the Office of the Registrar in person. The deadline for submission of the completed application package is July 21, 2006.

    Note: The “2 years of service” requirement has been waived.

    Limited Scholarships are available based on merit!!!

    Tuition fee
    The tuition fee (to complete the programs assuming no course repetition) is as follows:
    • Telecom MBA: Birr 45,000
    • Information Technology: Birr 50,000
    • Telecommunications Engineering: Birr 50,000
    Payment schedule: Tuition fee is payable in installments at the beginning of each semester for the courses a student is registering.
    Financial Aid
    Limited Scholarships are available for competent applicants
    The scholarship options are as follows:

    Full scholarship: very limited scholarships are available for applicants who scored high in the entrance exam and over all entrance evaluation.
    Partial scholarship: applicants who can cover part of the tuition and secured admission can apply for partial scholarship. Academic merit and amount of tuition applied for will be used as criteria to evaluate students. The more the applicant is willing to pay the higher is the possibility of winning the partial scholarship.

    NOTE: Securing Admission is necessary to be eligible for any of the above scholarship options.
